School Age Child Care

1. How do I register my child for the SACC Program?: Registration for SACC for the new school year is held during the months of May and June. New families can call the SACC office any time during the month of April and submit contact information. Registration paperwork will be mailed to all new families during the months of May and June. Should you develop a need for this program after those times please call our office with any inquiries or to receive a registration packet.

2. What type of activities do the children participate in?: The School Age Child Care Program staff consists of Certified and trained Teachers and Teacher Assistants. Children participate in age appropriate arts & crafts, large motor activities and free choice time (ex: board games, card games, coloring etc.). Quiet time is available to allow for homework, reading and/or silent activities. A daily nutritious snack is offered in both the before and after school program.

3. What are the hours of operation of the program?: The program follows a school calendar. The AM Program begins at 7:30 and operates until school begins. The PM program begins immediately upon dismissal and operates until 6 PM. NEW OPTIONS: A 7 AM start (for an additional fee) and a 6:30 PM close (for an additional fee). The program is also available on Parent/Teacher Conference Days (Half Days) for schools located in the Smithtown School District; whether or not your child attends the SACC Program on a regular basis.

4. How do I find information about Summer Camps/Programs?: The School Age Child Care Program compiles and distributes a Summer Camp Directory. Programs listed in the Directory at a minimum are available to children ages 5-10. The Directory is updated annually and typically available in March.

5. Do you have information about Preschools in the area?: Yes. The School Age Child Care Department compiles a directory of Preschools in and around Smithtown Township. The Directory is updated annually and typically available during the month of February.

6. Does the Town host a Preschool Fair?: Yes. The Preschool Fair is an annual event and held during the month of January. Approximately 25 programs attend.
