ANNOUNCEMENT OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF SMITHTOWN
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
FOR
2018
(YEAR 44)
In April 2018, the Town of Smithtown expects to receive approximately $172,480 in Federal Community Development Block Grant funds. These funds may be used, and have previously been used, for a variety of projects to be selected by local officials.
Eligible activities include:
- Acquisition and demolition of blighted property
- Housing rehabilitation
- Elimination of physical barriers to the handicapped
- Improvement of parks, open space and recreational facilities
- Improvement of streets
- Business district revitalization
- Neighborhood improvement programs
- Public water projects
All projects must meet one of three broad national objectives: to benefit low and moderate income persons; to prevent or eliminate slums and blighting conditions; or to meet an urgent community development need.
Smithtown residents are invited to attend a public hearing on November 7, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., at the Town Hall, 99 West Main Street, Smithtown, NY to express their views on local needs to be met with these funds.
AT THE AFOREMENTIONED TIME OR PLACE, a Public Hearing will be held and all interested persons shall be given an opportunity to be heard.
