[ARCHIVED] Battle of the Towns, Spring into Action 2022

JOIN THE TOWN OF SMITHTOWN BATTLE OF THE TOWNS, A FITNESS CHALLENGE OPEN TO ALL RESIDENTS BENEFITING THE SMITHTOWN FOOD PANTRY.

The Town of Smithtown has teamed up for the second year in a row, with the Town of Riverhead in a ‘Battle of the Towns’ Fitness Challenge. This month-long virtual fitness fundraiser begins Monday, March 20th and runs through Saturday, April 16th. Residents can register online via Kilter Rewards mobile app and get fit with friends, and family as we compete for the honor of the most active town. The Battle of the Towns competition is open to the public. Community members and Town employees alike are encouraged to invite friends, family, or acquaintances to compete, regardless of where they may reside. Registration into the competition is $25, of which $20 goes to the Smithtown Food Pantry at the end of the event. (Note: A $5 administrative fee is withdrawn from the entry cost.)

“This is a great way to shed some winter weight and get back into shape as we embrace the start of Spring. The best part is that you are doing it all for the worthiest cause, which in all honesty, can be a great motivation on those rainy days. When we dropped off the money to the Smithtown Food Pantry last year, Pat Westlake walked us through her plans for the donation. This was essentially the construction of a pop-up market, designed by Enspire Design Group (St. James, NY) Principal Architect & Founder Michael Morbillo. The market gives local families in need the shopping experience while allowing families to choose products based on nutritional needs and preferences. I have all the confidence in our great community that we’ll double last year’s donation so that the Food Pantry can complete this incredible new addition!” -Supervisor Ed Wehrheim

The Kilter App allows participants to keep track of daily activity, be it a morning walk, bikeride, yoga, meditation, or an afternoon filled with volunteering, advocacy or simply walking with the four-legged family member. Participants then earn points daily for all health and wellness related activities, which are then tallied towards helping the Township win. The Registration fee ($25) serves as a donation, which goes to the Smithtown Food Pantry. Additional opportunities to fundraise or donate will be available throughout the duration of the event. Upon the completion of the Battle of the Towns, residents may continue to use the Kilter App to track personal health or fitness goals.
