Meet the Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pets of the Week, a trio of senior siblings who are looking for a new home; Cali, Rocky, and Suzie.
All three pups, each twelve years old, came to the Shelter after their owner sadly passed away. The Animal Shelter is looking for someone with a giant heart to Furrever Foster these wonderful dogs together. Cali is a Female Cattle Dog Mix, Rocky, a Male Shepherd Mix, and Suzie is a Female Border Collie Mix.
The three siblings each have arthritis, and Suzie has some skin problems, but they do not let these issues stand in their way of playing and having fun with each other. These adorable loves are all very affectionate, and would do well in homes with other pets.
If you are interested in meeting Cali, Rocky, and Suzie, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in a domestic setting, which includes our Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and our Dog Walk trail. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process.
What is a Furrever Foster?:
A Furrever Foster is just what it sounds like. You promise to love and care for a dog that would otherwise be unwanted, because of age, or health issues. In turn, the Animal Shelter provides food, veterinary care, and medications for your companion.
COVID-19: Foster Opportunity:
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, our Animal Shelter has had to restrict public access, including our loyal volunteers. If you have no other pets or young children at home, and are looking for a way to serve your community in this time of crisis, please consider signing up to be a foster. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens, and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for extended periods of time.

Thinking About Adoption:
The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to us. The Animal Control Officers and Kennel Attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. Residents who have other pets can arrange to bring your four-legged family member to the shelter or set up an at home meet & greet to see how your prospective family member does with other family, pets and the household itself. Please allow yourself an hour minimum to meet with your potential new family member.
Spay/Neuter Clinic:
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will hold a Low Cost Spay/Neuter Mobile Clinic at the Smithtown Animal Shelter on August 26, September 9, September 23, October 7, and October 21. To book appointments, please call (631)-566-8870.
Hours at the Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday - Saturday 10AM - 3PM. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings: by appointment only).
During the COVID-19 pandemic, public access is restricted to confirmed adoption appointments and wildlife/domestic animal rescue only.)
