Mission Statement
“To promote the health and wellness of our young people; mobilize schools and communities; and utilize resources to create and sustain an environment where destructive decisions and substance abuse are reduced”
History
The Youth & Community Alliance of Smithtown was created in 2007 by the Smithtown Youth Bureau and Horizons Counseling & Education Center. Meetings, networking opportunities and presentations were held through 2014 with the help of the various sectors of the community.
The Alliance was re-launched in the summer of 2016. From a focus group that was held with community members, three priority areas were highlighted and committees were formed. They are: Substance Abuse, Bullying/Cyber-bullying, and Healthy Relationships.
Alliance general membership meetings and committee meetings are held quarterly.
