Social Activities & Programs

Recreation & Socialization

The Smithtown Recreation Department's "Special Young Adult Socialization Program" offers active and passive recreational activities for developmentally disabled young adults in a setting conducive to camaraderie and friendship. Social skills are enhanced and social interactions fostered through group discussions and regular social events such as dining out and trips to movies, shopping and museums. The program operates in the evening, year round, and is staffed by teachers and professional recreation personnel.

This program is free to town residents but some individual activities require a small fee. For further information call the Smithtown Recreation Department at (631) 360-7644.
