STAR Exemption Information
Basic STAR Exemption
Beginning in 2016 any homeowner who is applying for the first time or a new homeowner will be required to register with the Department of Taxation and Finance. You will be able to contact them directly at 518-457-2036 or register online. You will NO LONGER file your application with the Assessment Office. *** Please be advised that "first time" application means that you have NEVER had any STAR exemptions on your property before.

Beginning in 2019, any applicant is required to apply for the Income Verification Program, permitting New York State to verify and qualify that the income requirement has been met.
